  • Koto Koshirae Deluxe Iaito

High-end Iaito, fully made-to-order in Japan

The Koto Koshirae is a heavy Iaito, especially designed for intermediate to advanced practitioners. It is a replica of the swords used in pre-Muromachi period (1338-1573), the Fuchi and Kashira are in wrought iron, featuring a silver illumination in the shape of a snowflake. The blade also features a finish in Ookissaki (or Daikissaki - long tip). Particularly well balanced, this Iaito has known for reproducing to perfection the balance of the first Japanese Katana. Perfect for practitioners seeking a very heavy Iaito.

The deluxe Koto Koshirae is fitted with Japanese silk Tsukaito and Sageo and gold- or silver-plated Habaki and Seppa. Silk offers a better durability compared to cotton and it allows to keep the Iaito for many years before having to refurbish the Tsukaito. The Kanagu can be customized and the Saya comes with two additional models (optional). We recommend to stick with the most traditional Koto Koshirae assembly: Notare Hamon, Muji Habaki, black Tsukaito and Sageo and Kuroishime Saya. Particular attention has been paid to details during the realization of this high-end model.

This Iaito is handmade in Japan at the "Minosaka" forge using 100% Japanese materials. All accessories such as Tsuba, Menuki, Saya, etc. are also produced in Japan in traditional workshops specialized in the manufacturing of accessories for Shinken (real katana).
