  • Iaito Minosaka - Toppei Koshirae Deluxe

High-end Iaito, fully made-to-order in Japan

The Toppei Koshirae is a style of assembling, dating back to the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate (end of Edo era). Its main feature is the Hiramaki braiding (apparently with Menuki) and therefore, it will not be possible to modify the braiding on this model. The Toppei Koshirae also presents on its Saya a large wrought iron Kojiri. On the original assembly, the hexagonal Tsuba Hanjiro has the interest of blocking the Iaito when it is laid on the ground and thus prevents it from rolling.

The deluxe Toppei Koshirae is fitted with Japanese silk Tsukaito and Sageo, and with gold- or silver-plated Habaki and Seppa. Silk offers a better durability compared to cotton and it allows to keep the iaito for many years before having to refurbish the Tsukaito.

The Kanagu can be customized and the Saya comes with two additional (optional) models, the "Super Deluxe" Fuji Kuroro and the Same Kuroro. We do recommend to stick with the original assembly of this Toppei Katana reproduction: Hanjiro Tsuba, Shonai Habaki, Ryu (dragon) Menuki and brown/atsuki Tsukaito and Sageo..

This Iaito is handmade in Japan at the "Minosaka" forge using 100% Japanese materials. All accessories such as Tsuba, Menuki, Saya, etc. are also produced in Japan at traditional workshops specialized in the manufacturing of accessories for Shinken (real Katana). Particular attention has been paid to details during the manufacturing of this high-end model.
