Iwama Ryu Bokken, Jo & Tanto [Aikido Set]

Great set ! The weapons are beautiful, I selected the Seido special finish and it was definitely worth it, smooth as silk, feels so good you don't want to put down your boken or jo! The delivery was incredibly fast and the whole set arrived ahead of schedule in a perfect packaging.

I have chosen the set with the Iwama Ryu bokken and the 24mm jo in white oak. For me the bokken offers the perfect control due to its weight and slightly larger diameter. The jo of 24mm diameter is slim enough for handling with normal size hands. As always with Seido: The quality of the weapons is outstanding and the delivery and communication are excellent.

Purchased the Iwama Ryu Aikido set. One word - solid. The Shirakashi or Japanese white oak does appear to be tighter in grain/more dense than my old (same style) bokuto from another company and definitely heavier and very nicely balanced. Great for building grip and the type of suburi and active kumitachi which we practice. The 9bu jo is, without a doubt, solid, extremely well balanced and smooth. Just a pure joy to use. It is slightly discolored in one small section but we are talking about a natural material and so the prettiness factor doesn't bother me in the slightest, especially in light of how well balanced and smooth the jo is. Thank you Seido for making fine Japanese made wooden weapons available for the rest of us not in Japan, especially during these Covid restricted times.

For my second Dan Aikido I decided to treat myself to a new set of wooden weapons...I couldn't have picked a better reward! The Iwama Ryu set (including jo, bokken and tanto) is a real marvel, and worth every penny. Each weapon is masterfully crafted and so-well balanced, it feels lighter than my previous "basic" models...despite being actually a bit heavier!
The "akagashi" red oak wood has a beautiful, reddish-golden colour: it'll be love at first sight! I was a bit concerned about the varnishing employing just camelia oil + beeswax instead of urethane: I though the weapons would feel "rough", but they are on the contrary super smooth and a pleasure to hold.
Thanks to the 10% discount offer on the set, I invested the spared money to have my name engraved on each weapon: such wonderful results! The katakana kaishotai fonts are elegant, neat but at the same time discreet. The names are written vertically down the weapon.
I am extremely pleased with the new Aikido weapon set, and I really look forward to the end of summer break so I may finally go back to the dojo and practice suburi or kumi...with my brand-new luxury bokken, jo and tanto! Oh, and of course I look forward to my next purchase on Seido Shop, too: nothing easier than choosing the item of your dreams, ordering it through the user-friendly interface and having it delivered in less than a week. Definitely recommended!

Le fabricant à fait le produit exactement comme prévu , la qualité du bois est excellente , la finition est très bonne , le poids est les mensurations sont respectés , les délais de livraison sont un peu long jusqu'ici au Maroc , peut-être vu la grande distance entre le Japon et le Maroc , mais d'un point de vue général l'engagement avec le client est respecté.
