Tsuba Washi - T045
This made in Japan Tsuba features an eagle.
The Japanese mythology has an eagle god, appearing in the Nihon Shoki, Amenohiwashi-no-mikoto. It is said that he looked after the goddess Amaterasu when she was hiding (and emprisoned) in the cave of heaven. The eagel was declared an auspicious omen, and his manifestation as a god was named “AmenohiWashi-no-kami”, washi being the Japanese character for “eagle”. Constantly looking down on a vast swath of earth as it flies across the sky, the eagle is a symbol of the great power of nature.
