Jumonji Yari Menuki - M074
This made in Japan Menuki features Jumonji Yari (Spears) with Eboshi helmet and Saihai. Jumonji spears get their name from their shape, as it resembles the Japanese kanji for the number ten (十). Jumonji have usually a central blade with two horizontal spurs on each side. They were designed to divert the opponent's weapon or spike him from behind while pulling back the spear.
The association between the Eboshi helmet and Yari can be interpreted as a reference to Kiyomasa Kato, a famous daimyo from the Higo prefecture who was hunting Tigers using a Yari.
As for the Saihai, it is a signal baton that was traditionally used in feudal times by Samurai commanders.
