This is a Chikukan 竹簡 (bamboo writing strips) of the "Juu no Okite" commandments.
什の掟 "Juu no Okite" were commandments and codes of honor taught to the samurai children of the Aizu clan. They consisted of simple rules by which each young samurai had to abide.
- Do not disobey your elders.
- Always bow to your elders.
- Do not lie.
- Do not act cowardly.
- Do not bully the weak.
- Do not eat outside.
- Do not fraternize with women in public.
- What mustn't be done must not be done.

This Chikukan is signed with the artist's seal. Fuh-mi has studied calligraphy, poetry, and ikebana (Japanese floral art) since childhood. She is a Japanese calligrapher who mainly works in the field of contemporary art.
