Tengu - K015
This made in Japan Fuchi & Kashira set features a Tengu. Tengu (天狗) which translates litteraly as "heavenly god" is a legendary creature of the Japanese Shinto religion. Depending on its form, it is considered either a Shinto god (kami) or a Yokai (supernatural beings). At first, Buddhism considered tengu disruptive demons and harbingers of war, but their image softened into one of protective spirits of the mountains and forests. Tengu are associated with the ascetic practice of Shugendo, and are believed to offer their favors to the Yamabushi, hence its popularity among a certain class of Samurai.
This model is of what is called "Jidai" style, which correspond to a flat shaped Kashira.-
