This made in Japan Fuchi & Kashira set features a dragon of the Mino province. Mino is city in Today's Gifu prefecture renown to be the hosting city of the Mino-den (Mino tradition of swordmaking). It is the home of swordsmith as famous as Kanesada, Kanemoto or Kaneshige. It is also the home of the two main Iaito workshop of today, Minosaka and Jisei. The Mino Ryu is simply a Dragon design as seen by Mino's craftsmen. In Buddhism, the Dragon is the protector of the divine law. Dragons are sometimes seen as gods or very powerful beings able to bring various kinds of good and evil on earth (rain, thunder, etc.). The Dragon is one of the most popular mythical beast and as such, is tied to a enormous number of myths and legends of all kinds. Itt’s a symbol of great power, wisdom, and success, and is said to bring strength, luck, and fortune and often associated with the sea.
This model is of what is called "Jidai" style, which correspond to a flat shaped Kashira.-
