Hishotsuru - K025
This made in Japan Fuchi & Kashira set features flying cranes. The tsuru (鶴) or crane in English are frequently featured alongside the Seven Lucky Gods of Japan (Shichifukujin) and symbolizes good fortune and longevity. In modern Japan, the crane has become the ultimate symbol of peace in relation to the innocent victims of nuclear warfare. This symbolism comes from the story of Sadako Sasaki, a young girl born in 1943 in Hiroshima who, prior to her death in 1955 of severe leukemia, folded 1000 paper cranes.
This model is of what is called "Jidai" style, which correspond to a flat shaped Kashira.-
