Jiki Shinkage Bokken, Jo & Long Tanto Set - White Oak
Made in Japan (Kyushu)
Available in white oak onlyThis set includes a light Jiki Shinkage Ryu Naginata bokken, a classic standard size jo 8 bu (24 mm), and a long tanto. Each weapon is manufactured in a single piece of white oak from the southern islands of Kyushu (Japan ).
The thin and light weight Jiki Shinkage Bokken is very pleasant to handle and very popular among aikidoka. Thinner and a lot lighter than a conventional model. Particularly oriented for practice in precision and finesse, this model is not designed to withstand shocks.
The long tanto is designed, not only for the practice of tanto-dori, but also as an educational tool, especially to illustrate the cutting directions that underlie empty handed techniques. The tanto allows a clear visualization for the students watching and gives uke (the person who receives) information on how to receive the technique safely.

Finish options:
In 2021, with concerns for the workers, all workshops greatly reduced the number of urethane varnished weapons and replaced the finish by a "Candle Wax". Seido is now transitioning to a new finish offer for the majority of its weapons.
Standard Finish: At Seido, we complete the workshop finish with Camelia oil treatment by default. This is the standard Seido finish.
We do not apply any additional polishing for this finish, so some weapons might have a slightly rough surface.
For maintenance, we recommend that you oil your weapons about once a month with a vegetal based oil.Seido Special Finish: For this special Finish, we first apply a Camelia oil polish (oiling and sanding the weapons with oiled sand paper), then we finish the weapon with high quality beeswax. This finish makes the wood as smooth as it can be and guarantee an excellent protection for several months.
For maintenance, we recommend at least to oil your weapons every month or so. You can also apply wax a few hours after oiling your weapons (if some oil remains on the wood, remove it with a piece of cloth or tissue).Jiki Shinkage Ryu Bokken, Jo & Long Tanto Set - Specifications Dimensions Jiki Shinkage Ryu Bokken Deluxe Jo (8 bu) Extra-Long Tanto Full length: 101.5 cm 127.6 cm 36 cm Blade length: 75.5 cm - 24 cm Tsuka length: 26 cm - 12 cm Tsuka diameter: 30 x 22 mm 24 mm (8 bu) 26 x 20 mm Tsukagashira: Taira (flat butt) - Hanmaru (roundet butt) Kissaki: Shokissaki (small kissaki) - Shokissaki (short) Mine: Hiramine (flat spine) - Hiramine (flat) Weight: 350 ~ 400 g 550 ~ 600 g ~120 g * Wood is a living material, color and weight vary from one weapon to another.
